Winnie-the-Pooh

Winnie-the-Pooh
By A.A. Milne
Dutton Juvenile; Deluxe Edition edition
Source: My bookshelf
Audience: Everyone
Challenge: British Book Challenge

Everyone knows the story of that silly old bear. He needs no introduction.

I loved the Disney movie and spin-off episodes of Winnie-the-Pooh. Naturally, this meant I needed to read the story. I bought a beautiful edition a while ago and decided it was time to read it for the British Book Challenge! It was a good choice. I should have read it immediately after buying it. It lived up to everything Disney (even though I realize the book came first, I know the movie better.) The filmmakers were very faithful to the author’s work.

The only disappointing thing about this book is that Tigger was missing. I was expecting Gopher to not show up (obviously.) Tigger must show up in a different story.

Also, has anyone ever seen the dedication in this book? It is by far the best dedication I have ever seen! Here it is:

            Hand in hand we come
                Christopher Robin and I
To lay this book in your lap.
                  Say you’re surprised?
      Say you like it?
Say it’s just what you wanted?
                        Because it’s yours –
                        Because we love you.

Amazing, right?

I’m going to look for a beautiful edition of the other books too. I can’t wait to read the rest!
