From Goodreads:
When the Tooting family finds an old engine and fits it to their camper van, they have no idea what kind of adventure lies ahead. The engine used to belong to an extraordinary car . . . and it wants its bodywork back! But as the Tootings hurtle across the world rebuilding the original Chitty, a sinister baddie is on their trail -- one who will stop at nothing to get the magnificent car for himself.

I loved the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as a child. Actually, who am I kidding? I still love to watch it. The music, the colors, the suspense, oh my! So imagine how I felt when I discovered the BOOK at the library. TWO of my favorite things in ONE! Holy cow. And the author of the book was the creator of JAMES BOND. Awesome.

So I read the book, and was disappointed. It was SO DIFFERENT. No Truly Scrumptious = A lot less fun. I stuck with the movie.

Nevertheless, I was still super excited to see a sequel. A sequel! Written by the guy that wrote Millions! (I loved that book. I understood that kid so well.) I really trusted him with the story and immediately checked the book out. Then the YALSA challenge happened, and I didn't get a chance to read it until now.

It was fun. At first I was disappointed and didn't like it very much, but as the book went on, I saw where he was going with the story and started to love it. Fabulous. Lucy stole the show. She was definitely my favorite part of the book. I think the illustrations could have been better, but I still liked them. If you love(d) the movie or the book, read this story!
