From Goodreads:
For the past six years, Matty has lived in Village and flourished under the guidance of Seer, a blind man, known for his special sight. Village was a place that welcomed newcomers, but something sinister has seeped into Village and the people have voted to close it to outsiders. Matty has been invaluable as a messenger. Now he must make one last journey through the treacherous forest with his only weapon, a power he unexpectedly discovers within himself.

I liked this one way better than Gathering Blue. It was so suspenseful! I was dying for them to get through the forest. And the ending - oh it was so SAD, but beautiful at the same time. This book was put together very thoughtfully, and I loved it.

Matty changed a lot in the time between Gathering Blue and Messenger. Even though he didn't talk the same and wasn't quite as mischievous, I could still see his past in his personality. It was so interesting to see him more grown up. I liked him just as much!

I don't feel like I understood enough what was happening to Village, though. I knew WHAT was happening, but I didn't feel like I understood it because I wanted to know HOW it happened. I'm going to read reviews and see what other people thought of that situation. I have my own ideas, but I want to read everyone else's. Messenger is my favorite so far!
