Snowed In
By Rachel Hawthorne
HarperTeen, 2007
Audience: All Teens

From Goodreads:
Well, apparently I live here now--my mom just bought the place. And named it after me, Ashleigh, which was nice. But did she know how cold it is here

Um, it's a tiny island with not much to do, unless you really like sleigh rides. But I gotta say there are quite a few hot guys on this cold island...

This is my new favorite Rachel Hawthorne book! It was different from her others, and I really liked the change. Ashleigh's hot guy (they totally had great chemistry) was, unfortunately, taken. I loved how his girlfriend never called him by his name - that was a nice touch. It was hilarious. Even when he was sitting right next to her, she still said, "My boyfriend" for everything. If she were real, I would worry about her.

And just to warn everyone, there is a bat scene. I have a bat that lives outside my patio. I want him to go away, but don't have the heart to put a net up so he can't get in there. I think of his name being Earl. So in this bat scene, I cringed. As long as I don't see Earl, he's fine. But if I were to see Earl and if he were to invade my space somehow, we would have a problem. So yeah, it wasn't funny in the book to me. It was a nightmare!

Anyway, it had a really good ending, and it was a fun, quick winter read. The only thing that I didn't like was the last names of Ashleigh and Josh. Ashleigh Sneaux. Pronounced snow. And Josh Wynter.

Cheesy, I know.

But still a fantastic book.
