Top Ten Different Expectations

Top Ten Books I Thought I Would Like More/Less than I Did

Wow, that's a mouthful.

To simplify things, I'm going to put THAT into my own words.

Top 5 books that I had higher hopes for:

I really did like Out of the Easy, I was just expecting to absolutely LOVE it.
The others, I wasn't so impressed with. I read them because I had heard great things about them from other people. They just weren't as awesome to me as they were to others.

Top 5 books that I wasn't expecting to absolutely LOVE:

These were amazing, and I was just reading them because I was interested in them.

  2. I definitely had higher hopes for Code Name Verity, it just wasn't for me. I am not done with Taken yet but I already know that it is a let down for me. Though Madness Underneath was not my favorite, I thought the villain was super obvious.

  4. You didn't like Code Name Verity?! I've heard such amazing things about that one! Although Out of Easy was one I was looking forward to reading and I've heard mixed reviews. I really need to read Every Day and Between Shades of Grey though. Great list!

    1. The first part of CNV was pretty boring until the twist at the end. It was interesting. I was expecting to LOVE it, and it was just ok. I finished it, but almost didn't.

  6. I think I might still give Out of the Easy a try, because I don't think I could stomach her first book (despite all the fan reviews on goodreads).

  7. Hm. I've been really interested in reading Code Name Verity.

But, I'm really glad that you enjoyed those A.S. King books. I especially loved Everybody Sees the Ants. They were so interesting and ended up blowing me away as well. :D
    Nice list!

  8. The Raven Boys is on quite some lists (in a "negative" way). It's on my wish list, but I'm not sure if I want to read it.

  10. I adored Out Of the Easy, but I couldn't get past a few chapters in Why We Broke Up. It was just so shallow, you know?

  11. I loved Code Name Verity and Raven Boy. I do know that Maggie's books always go either way for people. I don't know why.
