Top Ten Tuesday: Movies were Better

Top Ten Tuesday

I decided to make my OWN topic this week, since it's a rewind and we can pick what we want.

My Theme:
Top Ten Movies that were Better than the Books

Seems backwards, huh?

I haven't seen the John Wayne version, but I thought the book was boring.
I liked the new version of the movie better.

I just love the movie so much, the book can't compete. No offense, Ian Fleming.

Shoeless Joe was a snooze, but I love Field of Dreams.

LOVE the movie.
Didn't like the book one bit.

I don't really remember the book, but I remember every line from the movie.

I was bored reading this.
LOVE the movie and watch it often.

I hate to put this one on here, but it's true.
This book took me forever to get through, but only two hours to watch and LOVE.
I'm going to try and read it again as an adult and see if it goes better.

I bought the first book, then sold it.
It was exactly like the movie, but I liked the movie characters better.

It's such an entertaining movie, and Rapunzel is awesome in it.
Beats most of the traditional fairy tales.

I adore the movie, and tried to read the book, and it just didn't work.

What do you think? Was I wrong? What did I leave out?

  1. I completely agree with you with Legally Blonde. I love that movie. I do love Little Women but I love the film equally as much as the book. Great list.

  2. Legally Blonde is a book? You learn every day. I loved Scott Pilgrim movie but I haven't read the comics yet. As for the rest, haven't read them at all. Yikes. :D

  3. I'm horrible - I haven't read any of these except Jumanji (I agree, the movie was better...shh... don't tell). :) I had the same problem as you (A Little Princess) when I tried to read The Secret Garden - loved the movie, couldn't do the book. :(

  4. Interesting list! I don't think I've actually read any of these books, but I have seen some of the movies. I absolutely loved Jumanji when I was younger, and Scott Pilgrim vs the Wolrd is definitely a favorite. Great list :)

  6. The only ones I can really comment on are Little Women and Rapunzel/Tangled since I haven't read any of the other books (but have seen most of the movies). I agree about Tangled. It's a brilliant adaptation that gives Rapunzel some actual depth to her character. But I disagree about Little Women, and that's because I love that book. It's actually the book that started my love of reading, back in 5th grade.

  8. Tangled is fantastic!! I think The Notebook was another movie that was better than the book. There was so much more in the movie.. and there was Ryan Gosling too :)
