Reviewers' Roundtable: Series

Read Your Bookcase

Let's face it - there are so many series (what's the plural of series?) out there. It's hard to finish them all. Sometimes I don't even start a series because I know I don't have time to read them all.
So here is a list of series and why I did or didn't finish them.

Did Not Finish

Oh, Twilight. I read spoilers about this book in Entertainment Weekly, and I decided then and there that I didn't need to read it. It was too long and it sounded crazy. That was enough for me. Not enough time. After a while, I felt like I should read it, but then everything went crazy with the movies. After that, I was tired of it.
I liked the first book in this series, but the second one just was long and not as good. I saw Emerald Green came out and felt like I had to finish the series. Then I decided that since I felt like I had to finish, I should skip it because clearly, I didn't want to read it. There are so many other books out there that I am more excited to read. I'll start with those.

I wasn't a big fan of this book at all, so I won't read any of the rest. Easy decision.

On the other hand, I read all 25 books in this series. It was so much fun to see a modern Nancy Drew and find out what she would be like in college. I have the first three in the series. I used to wish that I had all of them, but that's a lot of books. It's probably for the best that I don't have them.

I liked the Ruby Oliver books, and they were short. Mission accomplished!

In Progress

I have every intention of finishing and loving The Mortal Instruments, but it always seems like I have too much other stuff to read that has a due date. It makes me sad. I feel like I'm missing something awesome. You'd think that would be enough for me to move it up my priority list. But it's not, I guess.

I'm so excited to finish the Alice series. I only have a handful left! I started reading them when I was younger, but they kind of outgrew me. When I was old enough to appreciate them, I was too busy to read them. They're all just as good now as they were then!

Like The Mortal Instruments, I haven't gotten to the rest of the Jessica Darling books. I actually really liked Second Helpings. But here I am, stuck at Charmed Thirds. You see, the problem is there are too many books.

  1. Dude I'm stuck at book 4 with the Jessica Darling series. I need to just do it and read the 5th book. I just didn't LIKE the 4th one :( I DNF'd Twilight too. It just wasn't my thing... and good for you for reading all those Alice books!! I saw the final one came out the other week and I was like oh that looks cute... but then I saw there's 25 books in the series!! 25!!!

    1. The first 10 or so are short! They only take about an hour to read. You could also just start at The Grooming of Alice. That's when they turn more YA. They're good!

I was wrong - I checked my goodreads (I don't know what I would do without that) and I finished 3. I just didn't recognize the different cover.
