Davey's father was murdered. Now, she, her mother and her little brother have no idea how to go about rebuilding their lives. The family flees to New Mexico. In this alien place, Davey meets Wolf, a mysterious boy who understands her without asking questions. Slowly she begins to piece the broken fragments of herself together again.
I think this is Judy Blume’s best book. It was so well-written and the story was so strong. I think the family dynamics were perfect. Everyone can relate to have a family member who thinks they know best. I liked how there wasn’t a ton of romance - just a hint of it. A full-blown love story wouldn’t have felt right. All of the different parts of the story fit together perfectly. Fantastic.
